This documentary, narrated by Kieth Merrill, focuses on man’s exploration of the canyon, rather than the geology of the phenomenon. It starts with the first people there, the Anasazi people, goes through the Spaniards who founded it in 1540, and follows through with the navigation of the Colorado River running through it by John Wesley Powell, the Civil War veteran. The IMAX experience in high definition helps to feature the vastness of the space and layers of rock. The camera takes the viewer from the panoramic views seen from a hang glider all the way to the bottom, where the powerful rapids run.
