Kevin Lomax (Keanu Reeves) plays an ambitious lawyer, who we see representing a child molester in court. After winning the case, he is called by a big New York firm, lead by John Milton (Al Pacino) character, to help with jury selection. He succeeds at that as well, is hired by the firm, and begins an impressive rise within the firm. He moves into a swanky apartment with his wife (Charlize Theron) overlooking Central Park, gets a great office, and enjoys his prestigious new job. However, his wife is not as enthusiastic. Her husband is gone almost constantly and she senses something evil among the other wives. As time goes on, she becomes convinced that this is not just any firm, but something satanic is going on. Everyone believes she is going crazy, and eventually she is sent off to a hospital while her husband tries to balance his new career, her condition, and a growing attraction for another lawyer (Connie Nielson) at the firm. Things escalate both professionally and personally to a dramatic and supernatural climax.
