“The King’s Speech” is the story of King George VI (Colin Firth) who has just become the King of England. George has just assumed the throne of England against his own wishes. George is a bit reluctant to become King due to his incredibly horrible stutter. This becomes evident when he gives his first address to the people. Queen Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter) gains the aid of a questionable speech therapist, Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush). At first King George and Lionel cannot stand one another, However they soon bond and an everlasting friendship is forged. In a time of war King George is able to find his voice to lead his country when they need him the most.
