Starting out as a Broadway stage show, "A Chorus Line" (1985) is an excellent adaptation of the original. The story shows a Broadway director, Zach (Michael Douglas) and his assistant Larry (Terrence Mann) auditioning performers for an upcoming stage show. Each of the candidates has a unique story and personality, which we learn as the film progresses. Paul, (Cameron English), for example, deals with his homosexuality. Richie (Gregg Burge) wonders if he should have become a teacher. Kristine (Nicole Fosse) is tone-deaf. Sheila (Vicki Frederick) has family troubles. How will each performer's history affect the casting of the show? As the group is reduced smaller and smaller with each cut, who will remain?
