An Air Force supply crew, under the command of Captain Patrick Hendry (Kenneth Tobey), is dispatched to a remote region of Alaska by Dr. Carrington (Robert Cornthwaite), who has reason to believe a UFO has crashed there. Upon reaching the site, the crew realizes that the UFO is in fact a flying saucer, and it's trapped under a thick layer of ice. The men try to free the vessel using explosives, but accidentally destroy it in the attempt. Soon, however, a team member makes another discovery: a body in the ice near where the flying saucer was. The crew brings the body, still frozen in a block of ice, back to the remote station, just in time for a fierce storm to knock out all communications with the outside world. One of the men guarding the ice block covers it with a blanket to avoid seeing the creature, an electric blanket. The creature thaws out and escapes, wreaking havoc on the remote station.
