The story follows a southern textile worker named Norma Rae (Sally Field.) Norma is working in a factory under terrible working conditions, she is a dependable and lively with and mother living in Alabama. Her concern poor conditions and her concern about the situations shefinds herself working in, gives her the idea and the strength to start visiting a smart and dedicated labor union organizer from New York. The pair then take on the difficult and dangerous task to unionize the factory for everyone. Like most of her family including her mother and father works at the Henley mill, where they spin and weave cloth.
