This film is based on the true story of Ed Horman (Jack Lemmon) whose son, an American fundamentalist disappeared in South America some time ago. With the help of his determined daughter in law Beth (Sissy Spacek), Ed travels to South America to look for his missing son. They believe that with the help of the U. S. government, they may be able to gain access to foreign officials who can help them find their beloved family member. As they dig deeper and deeper into the case, they discover that the American government may have covered up many of the crucial facts involved with case and may not be as it seems.
