Ice Station Zebra is a British weather station located at the North Pole. The crew of the USS Tigerfish, a nuclear submarine is ordered to head straight to the station at all costs. The reason for this rendezvous is not immediately revealed. commander James Ferrady (Rock Hudson), has more than his crew to manage on the perilous journey. With him are former communist Boris Vaslov (Ernest Borgnine) and two British agents. Ferrady learns that the men of Ice Station Zebra have recovered a capsule from a downed Russian satellite that has photographs that will give the Soviets an edge in the Cold War. The journey is marked with problem after problem. Ferrady suspects that the mission is being sabotaged. Only when they arrive, will the true enemy be made known.
