In the year 2047 a message is received from the spaceship Event Horizon, which disappeared mysteriously in the vicinity of Neptune in the year 2040. The starship Lewis and Clark is sent to investigate along with a crew that includes Dr. William Weir (Sam Neill), who is the designer of the Event Horizon. Upon arrival at the Event Horizon there does not appear to be any signs of life, but the Lewis and Clark crew, including Captain Miller (Laurence Fishburne) attempt to get the ship in operable order and hope to find some survivors. Unbeknownst to the Lewis and Clark crew the Event Horizon was a prototype vessel designed to use a new stardrive that bends space to open a wormhole to anywhere. What the Lewis and Clark eventually discover is that the stardrive didn't work out the way it was supposed to, things went incredibly wrong and it is a question as to whether they will be able to get away from what has happened.
