Miriam Blaylock (Catherine Deneuve) is a beautiful temptress and also an Egyptian vampire queen who needs the blood of others to survive. In exchange for their blood and normal life, they are granted the ability to live forever. Miriam has been struggling to find lovers lately and will die of blood starvation in the next day if she cannot gain the trust of a mysterious man named John (David Bowie). She goes to psychiatrist Dr. Sarah Roberts (Susan Sarandon) who does not believe her story and cannot help her. Eventually the doctor herself falls in love with Miriam and becomes her next victim.
